Bradley Johnson gives Norwich City win at Brighton & Hove Albion

Norwich City give their Championship promotion hopes a boost with a 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Bradley Johnson's second-half strike has given Norwich City a 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at The Amex this afternoon.

Norwich dominated possession in the early exchanges and created the first chance of the game, Johnson testing David Stockdale with a powerful shot from distance that the Brighton goalkeeper pushed away for a corner.

Cameron Jerome could have opened the scoring in the 14th minute after he was picked out by Wes Hoolahan's cross. However, the striker planted his header wide of the Brighton post.

Hoolahan then picked out Alexander Tettey shortly after, but the midfielder failed to test Stockdale as he dragged a shot across goal and wide of the mark.

Brighton almost caught Norwich out six minutes before the break when Beram Kayal found Joao Teixeira, but the midfielder shot wide following a mistake by the Canaries' defence.

Norwich opened the scoring on the hour mark with the first meaningful chance of the second half. Nathan Redmond found space on the right wing and his cross reached Johnson at the back post, who rifled the ball into the roof of the net.

The pair combined again shortly after as Redmond set up Johnson with another cross, but the midfielder shot narrowly wide of the post from inside the area.

Brighton had an opportunity to secure a point five minutes from the end, but Leon Best failed to make the most of Kazenga LuaLua's cross as he headed wide of the target.

However, Norwich held on for the win which takes them up to third in the table and behind second-placed Bournemouth on goal difference alone.
