Alex Neil: 'Norwich City deserved Brentford defeat'

Norwich boss Alex Neil admits that his side deserved to be beaten by playoff rivals Brentford in the Championship, admitting that the Bees were the "hungrier" team.

Norwich City boss Alex Neil has admitted that his team deserved their 2-1 defeat at home to Brentford in the Championship.

The Canaries saw their two-game winning run under their new manager come to an end on Saturday as they were beaten by the promotion-chasing Bees.

While he believes that his players created some good chances in front of goal during the match, Neil concedes that their overall performance did not warrant a positive result.

"I think we had opportunities to get something out of the game but the performance would not have merited any points if I am being honest." he is quoted as saying by the Eastern Daily Press. "In fact I would go further and say we were poor so I definitely wouldn't say we deserved anything from the match.

"If I am honest we came up against a hungrier team. If you look at the 11 players who go on the pitch you want them to win their individual battles and I think they won more of those all over the pitch and merited their win."

The result has seen Norwich slip down to eighth place in the Championship table, four points adrift of the playoff positions.
