Hughton: 'Chamakh should have seen red'

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton feels that Crystal Palace striker Marouane Chamakh should have been sent off in the first half of their clash at Selhurst Park.

Chamakh and Canaries midfielder Wes Hoolahan had an altercation, where the Moroccan allegedly shoved Hoolahan in the face, but did not receive his marching orders as the pair were booked.

Hughton told BBC Sport, when asked if the striker should have been dismissed: "Almost certainly. By the letter of the law, a push in the face is a sending-off. Credit to Wes Hoolahan, as he didn't make a meal of it. The lad should have gone.

"It was a game we wanted to play. Our support had travelled a long way, but the conditions were very difficult. I thought we were in the ascendancy [when the penalty was given]. Palace played a very direct style. By the time we got the goal, it was likely to be us who created something."

Norwich had to settle for a point in the game as Bradley Johnson's opener was cancelled out by a Jason Puncheon penalty, which leaves them 15th in the Premier League.
