Team News: Joe Widdowson missing for Northampton Town

Northampton Town left-back Joe Widdowson fails to make his team's matchday squad for today's League Two clash against Southend United after suffering an ankle injury.

Northampton Town left-back Joe Widdowson has failed to make tonight's matchday squad for the League Two clash against Southend United after limping off with an ankle injury in Saturday's win over Hartlepool United.

Otherwise, the Cobblers will stick with the same side tonight at Sixfields that last weekend clinched a first home win since the end of November.

Southend defender Cian Bolger has returned to parent club Bolton Wanderers after one game, the youngster having suffered an ankle injury, while Adam Thompson will also miss out.

Luke Prosser remains out with a calf strain while midfielder Conor Clifford has one game left of his suspension.

However, striker Lee Barnard has shaken off an illness to line up in the Shrimpers' starting XI.

Northampton Town: Duke, McSweeney, Diamond, Doumbe, Robertson, Hackett, Ravenhill, Carter, Dickenson, Sinclair, Marquis
Subs: Snedker, Connell, Morris, Deegan, Toney, Tozer, German

Southend United: Bentley, Leonard, White, Phillips, Coker, Atkinson, Timlin, Laird, Straker, Corr, Barnard
Subs: Smith, Gomis, Payne, Hurst, Eastwood, Banton, Williams
