Wolfsburg boss Dieter Hecking tells Bas Dost to snub Newcastle United

Wolfsburg boss Dieter Hecking says that he does not understand why Bas Dost would want to leave the Bundesliga side for Newcastle United.

Wolfsburg head coach Dieter Hecking has told Bas Dost that he should turn down any interest from Newcastle United.

The Magpies have been linked with a move for the striker, who netted 16 times for the Bundesliga outfit last season.

However, Hecking believes that a move to St James' Park would be a step down for Dost.

"Why should he go to Newcastle?" Hecking told Wolfsburger Allgemeine.

"He can play Champions League with us. He won't be able to do that at Newcastle in the upcoming years."

Netherlands international Dost joined Wolfsburg from Heerenveen in 2012.
