Alan Pardew optimistic of Facundo Ferreyra signing

Alan Pardew has confirmed that Newcastle United are trying to bring in Facundo Ferreyra on loan for the 2014-15 Premier League season.

The Magpies have been linked with the Shakhtar Donetsk striker, who is keen to move away from the club because of the ongoing political unrest in Ukraine.

The manager told BBC Newcastle: "It's something that is not done, but we're working to see if that can happen."

The 23-year-old scored six goals in his five starts for Donetsk last season.
