Newcastle target Celtic skipper Scott Brown

Alan Pardew is reportedly targeting Celtic captain Scott Brown for a January move.

Newcastle staff have been monitoring the Scotland midfielder's situation at Celtic and will approach him shortly, according to The Mirror.

Brown could switch clubs for around £1.5m in the January window as Celtic want to avoid losing out on a fee at the end of the season.

Celtic signed the 26-year-old from Hibernian for £4m in 2007.
