Rafael Benitez: 'Still time for Newcastle United to do business'

Benitez: 'Still time to do business'

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that his side's transfer business has dragged on for longer than he would have liked, but insists that there is still time to get deals over the line.

The Magpies' only signing of the January transfer window so far has seen them bring in Kenedy on loan from Chelsea, despite the club sitting 15th in the Premier League table and just one point clear of the relegation zone.

Benitez has voiced his displeasure at Newcastle's transfer business in the past and hinted at some annoyance once again following his side's 3-0 FA Cup loss to Chelsea this afternoon, but the Spaniard suggested that the club are still working on possible incomings before Wednesday's deadline.

"I wanted to do my business by the 15th or the 20th [of January] but we still have time," he told reporters in his post-match press conference.

"I will continue working as hard as I'm working now, trying to improve the team."

Newcastle have been linked with the likes of Nicolai Jorgensen, Kelechi Iheanacho and Luan during the current transfer window.
