Baggies reject Newcastle's Berahino bid?

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly rejected Newcastle United's £21m offer for the services of wantaway striker Saido Berahino.

The Magpies, who are the biggest spenders of the transfer window so far, are believed to have tabled the cash-upfront offer to their Midlands rivals earlier on Sunday but were promptly turned down by West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle are now deciding whether to submit an improved offer to get the deal over the line before tomorrow's transfer deadline, with a fee of £25m more likely to yield a positive result.

Peace previously denied Berahino a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, resulting in the 22-year-old declaring that he would "never" play for the side again.

Berahino found the net twice for the Baggies yesterday as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Peterborough United in the FA Cup.
