Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa believes that the club will finish much higher in the Premier League table next season.

Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa believes that his side's survival push will spur them on to greater things next season.

The Magpies secured their Premier League status as they beat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at Loftus Road, with the Frenchman scoring a penalty in the victory.

Ben Arfa told the club's official website: "We fought hard for that and we're very happy to be safe. Everybody fought for the win - defensively and offensively, we stayed together and helped each other.

"Next year we start another season and I think we're going to be very, very high in the table.

"I think we're going to do a big pre-season and I hope we start well. If we start well, I think it can be a very good season like last year."

Newcastle are 13th in the Premier League following their win over QPR.
