Mike Williamson: 'Supporters deserve to be angry'

Mike Williamson believes that the Newcastle United supporters are right to be angry and upset with the team's current form.

Mike Williamson has insisted that the Newcastle United supporters have every right to be upset with how the team are performing recently.

The Magpies have won just once in their previous eight league games, and the club's fans were quick to voice their anger following the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

"Sometimes, the fans can be a little bit unfair but you can't say that over the past few games. They are justified," Williamson told reporters.

"We completely understand their anger and upset. Believe me, the players in there are feeling exactly the same.

"It might have come across to the fans that there was no heart and that's a disappointing thing but what we have had at this club in years gone by, is a reaction and so when things like this do happen, the lads pull together."

Newcastle are currently ninth in the Premier League.
