Steven Taylor reveals that he will not play for Newcastle United again this season.

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has revealed that he is "dying for next season to start".

The 25-year-old will play no further part for the Magpies this term because of an Achilles tendon tear.

"It's disappointing and frustrating. The past two weeks have been an absolute nightmare. I've been in bed with my leg up watching daytime TV," he told talkSPORT.

"I had surgery two weeks ago and it's going to be a long road [back], but I've got my head around that now.

"I'm dying for next season to start. I'm going to try to get myself fully fit for pre-season, that's my target. I'm not looking to come back at all this season."

Taylor has spent his entire playing career with Newcastle.
