Ryan Fraser has opened up about the relationship he has with his Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.

The midfielder had previously played under the new Magpies manager during his time at Bournemouth where they enjoyed success together, yet there had been speculation of a rift between them.

However, Fraser featured in the first two games of Howe's time in charge and has only missed the previous couple of fixtures due to a hamstring problem.

"It is very, very good. Everyone looked at the end of it and thought it was not good. But we have always been good," Fraser told Newcastle's TV channel.

"I do not know what that came from. It was nothing personal, we have done a lot for each other, he has done a lot for me and I have done a lot for him. We did go for coffee in the summer before. We respect each other better."

The Magpies were able to record their first victory of the season at the weekend when they defeated Burnley which took them off the foot of the table.
