Gabriel Obertan has revealed that he won't give up on breaking into the Newcastle United starting lineup.
The French midfielder scored the winner on Thursday as a much-changed Magpies side saw off Club Brugge 1-0 at St James' Park in the Europa League.
"We don't get to play much in the Premier League," Obertan, 23, told reporters. "So we wanted to show the gaffer that we could have a starting position in the Premier League.
"I feel I've done pretty well in the Europa League and I'll wait for that position to come. I'm not going to give up. I trust myself."
Obertan joined Newcastle on a five-year contract from Manchester United in summer 2011.
