Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic says that he has enjoyed the best spell of his career while on loan at Fulham and hints at a permanent move to the club.

Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has claimed that he has enjoyed the best spell of his entire career during his loan stint at Fulham.

Mitrovic joined Fulham on a temporary basis in January and has scored 12 goals in 20 games for the club across all competitions, playing a major role in earning promotion via the playoffs.

The 23-year-old's longer-term future remains uncertain, but he suggested that he would be open to making his switch to Craven Cottage permanent.

"I don't know (about my future). Of course I am really happy here. I had the best three-and-a-half, four months of my career. We will see what happens. I am still a Newcastle United player, I have two years left on my contract, so we will see," Mitrovic is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"I want to enjoy now. I have one day to rest and then I have to work hard, and I will focus on that. I have people - my agent and people who speak with the clubs - and we will see what happens. I just want to enjoy the moment. I am really happy now.

"Of course Fulham will be successful in the Premier League for sure. I am delighted with the style we play, the players, with the staff. Every part. The fans really help a lot and I think I play some of the best football in my life, the last four months, and I really enjoyed it."

Mitrovic played the full 90 minutes at Wembley as Fulham beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the Championship playoff final yesterday.
