Demba Ba thinks that Newcastle need to "stay realistic" after a run of disappointing defeats in the Premier League.

Demba Ba believes that Newcastle United have the ability to revive their Premier League season after a recent disappointing run.

The North East side have dropped to seventh in the league table following a number of defeats including the side's 3-2 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.

"I'm not really worried when I look at this team, because of the spirit we have, the chances we create and the amount of bad fortune we've had," said Ba.

"We have to stay realistic. It's only our second season back in the Premier League. If at the start of the season you'd said at this stage we'd have 27 points from 17 games most people would have been happy.

"I hope everyone stays behind us because I don't think we're doing too bad. If we'd started the season in the way we've played in the last six games then went 11 games unbeaten, everybody would be happy. We're just going to continue what we have been doing. I don't think we're playing badly."

Alan Pardew's side travel to the Reebok Stadium to play Bolton Wanderers on Monday.
