Campaign group calls on Newcastle United fans to boycott Tottenham Hotspur game

A campaign group called Ashley Out calls on Newcastle United supporters to boycott the club's next home game against Tottenham Hotspur as a protest against owner Mike Ashley.

A group of Newcastle United supporters have called on their fellow fans to boycott the Magpies' next home game, against Tottenham Hotspur, as a protest against owner Mike Ashley.

The campaign was launched following Newcastle's 1-0 defeat away at bitter rivals Sunderland, with reports suggesting that it has garnered support from the club's Supporters Trust and a number of other groups.

A spokesperson from campaign group Ashley Out told The Chronicle: "Whether people choose to boycott or attend the match, apathy is no longer a viable option.

"AshleyOut.com will actively participate in this boycott and promote any such action, endeavouring to provide materials, manpower and publicity.

"We will work alongside all supporters and supporter representatives to ensure the protest is successful."

The game will take place on Sunday, April 19.
