Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has revealed that the club have given permission to Senegal to call up Papiss Cisse for their Olympic squad.
The 27-year-old scored 13 goals in 14 games after joining Newcastle from Freiburg in January, but he could miss the Magpies' entire pre-season if Senegal were to make the final of this summer's Games.
"We have to give our permission and we are sort of discussing it. It's awkward because we want to prepare for a difficult season ahead of Europa League and Premier League games," he told Sky Sports News.
Newcastle finished fifth in the Premier League last season.
