Newcastle United's Mike Williamson doubtful for Liverpool clash

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren admits that Mike Williamson suffered a hamstring injury during training and is doubtful to face Liverpool.

Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren has revealed that Mike Williamson is doubtful for his side's Premier League clash against Liverpool due to a hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old was recalled from a loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers after Jamaal Lascelles suffered an injury in the club's defeat to Crystal Palace.

However, Williamson has joined his teammate in the treatment room and could now miss the match against the Reds on Sunday, leaving McClaren short of options.

He told reporters: "Including a couple of kids, we've got 18 players for Sunday. Williamson has tweaked his hamstring and will have a scan."
