Fire stops Motherwell, Hibernian match

Fire stops Motherwell, Hibs match

Play was abandoned at half time in the match between Motherwell and Hibernian after an electrical fire.

It is believed that the generator which powers the floodlights at the Fir Park Stadium caught fire.

The visitors were leading 1-0 through Gary O'Connor's goal before play was stopped.

The match was also new Hibs manager Pat Fenlon's first full game in charge of the club.

The Friday night game, which had reduced ticket prices, was part of an initiative by the SPL to attract more fans to attend.
