Vancouver Whitecaps blitz Montreal Impact

Vancouver Whitecaps have kept their MLS playoff dreams alive with a 3-0 victory over Canadian rivals Montreal Impact at Saputo Stadium.

Victory sees Martin Rennie's boys cut the gap on fifth-placed Los Angeles Galaxy to three points, but the Californian outfit can re-establish their advantage when they take on MLS Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders later on.

Kenny Miller put the visitors ahead in the sixth minute after the referee adjudged Hassoun Camara to have handled the ball inside the area.

The Scottish international gave Troy Perkins no chance from 12 yards out by firing into the roof of the net.

As the hosts pushed forward looking for a late equaliser, they were caught twice in quick succession by Camilo Sanvezzo, which perhaps flattered the Whitecaps.
