Marcelo Bielsa refuses to pledge future to Marseille

Bielsa refuses to commit to Marseille

Marseille coach Marcelo Bielsa has refused to pledge his long-term future to Marseille, despite guiding the side to the top of Ligue 1.

The Argentine refuses to commit himself to the club after comments from striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, who says that his future depends on whether the manager stays or goes.

"It is difficult to ensure that the coach will stay long in one place," Bielsa said, according to Goal.com.

"There is a phrase from [former Argentina international and Real Madrid coach] Jorge Valdano that says 'I work as if I were going to stay all my life knowing I can go tomorrow'."

Since his arrival in May, Bielsa has taken Marseille above arch-rivals Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 table, and they will be looking to go four points clear with a victory over Metz this weekend.
