Ten-man Marseille stunned by Lorient

Ten-man Marseille stumble at home

Marseille have failed to close the gap on Ligue 1 leaders Lyon as they went went 3-0 to Lorient at home.

The defeat leaves Elie Baup's side third in the table for the moment, two points off the pace.

The turning point of the game came in the 37th minute when the hosts went down to 10 men.

Charles Kabore was adjudged to have pulled down Jeremie Aliadiere inside the Marseille penalty area and was shown his second yellow card.

Aliadiere himself stepped up to take the spot kick and made no mistake from 12 yards.

Lorient went 2-0 up just two minutes into the second half when Benjamin Corgnet fired in from the right side of the Marseille box into the top-left corner.

The visitors wrapped up the points in the 69th minute with their third goal of the evening, Aliadiere finding Kevin Monnet-Paquet with a cross for the midfielder to shoot home from close range.
