Dimitri Payet: 'Marseille not giving up on title'

Payet: 'We're not giving up on title'

Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet has suggested that he and his teammates are not giving up on their hopes of winning the Ligue 1 title.

OM lost 3-2 against leaders Paris Saint-Germain last weekend to leave the side from the Stade Velodrome trailing Les Parisiens by five points with seven games to go.

However, Payet is adamant that Marseille can still overcome the odds to lift the championship.

He told the Ligue 1 official website: "It's not over. As long as it's mathematically possible, we won't say goodbye to the title.

"There are two teams ahead of us, and we have no room for error right to the end. It'll be difficult, but we believe we can do it and we'll be ready if things don't move quickly up ahead of us."

Marseille can close the gap on PSG if they can win at Bordeaux on Sunday evening, a feat that they haven't achieved since 1977.
