Sports Mole speaks to Manchester United Women's defender Diane Caldwell ahead of their first-ever game at Old Trafford in front of fans against Everton in the WSL.

Manchester United Women prepare to make history this weekend as Marc Skinner's side lock horns with Everton Ladies at Old Trafford in Sunday's Women's Super League clash.

The encounter marks the first time in the women's team's short history that they will play in front of fans at the Theatre of Dreams after defeating West Ham United in a behind-closed-doors fixture last year.

Skinner's side are well-placed to qualify for the Champions League - entering the contest third in the table and level on points with Manchester City after their bitter rivals thrashed Everton 4-0 in midweek.

Man United painfully dropped two points right at the death against West Ham last time out but head into Sunday's game having taken seven points from the last nine on offer, and centre-back Diane Caldwell has been vital to the club's continental push since her mid-season arrival.

The experienced Republic of Ireland international only arrived at Old Trafford in the January transfer window and has seamlessly slotted into the Red Devils' backline amid Skinner's defensive injury woes in recent weeks.

Caldwell has played the full 90 minutes in five Women's Super League matches so far, and the 33-year-old - a lifelong Man United supporter - has frequented Old Trafford many times as a fan down the years.

Caldwell has helped Skinner's side keep one clean sheet since January in a 4-0 thrashing of Leicester City at their usual Leigh home, with the defender now aiming to help the team keep their fifth clean sheet in a row at home in the league - albeit at a slightly more revered venue.

Here, Caldwell speaks to Sports Mole about the imminent game at Old Trafford and her transition into the team in a short space of time, as well as an impassioned plea for fans to make the journey to Old Trafford and support the women's game.
