After Arsenal lost to Chelsea on Sunday lunchtime, Man City had the chance to close the gap to the third-placed side when they faced Manchester United in the evening kickoff.

The Citizens fell behind in the second minute, and their task became all the more difficult when goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck was shown a straight red card before half time.

Despite being a player light, Man City clawed their way back into the contest with Filippa Angeldahl's 68th-minute equaliser.

As it proved, the Citizens left Leigh Sports Village empty-handed after Lucia Garcia scored a 91st-minute equaliser to condemn Man City to a 2-1 defeat to their local rivals.

Gareth Taylor's side need a miracle to qualify for the Champions League, with three points separating them from third-placed Arsenal, who have a goal difference of +35 compared to Man City's +24.

Everton will head into the final matchday of the season in a buoyant mood after they claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

After Katja Snoeijs's opener was cancelled out by Katie Robinson, it appeared that the contest would end all square.

However, there was to be one final twist, as Hanna Bennison scored a stoppage-time winner to claim all three points in Everton's final home game of the season.

The Toffees are already guaranteed to end the campaign in the top half of the table, which represents an improvement on last season's 10th-place finish.

Having won all three away league games where they opened the scoring this season, the first goal could be crucial on Saturday if the Toffees are to trouble Man City.

Team News

Man City are still without the services of Laia Aleixandri and Alanna Kennedy, who are both sidelined with injury issues.

Sandy MacIver is also ruled out, and the goalkeeper has announced that she has made herself unavailable for England selection for the 2023 World Cup so she can focus on her injury rehabilitation.

With Roebuck suspended for the final game of the 2022-23 season, Khiara Keating will start in goal for the Citizens.

As for the visitors, they are still unable to call upon Gabby George, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Former Man City player Izzy Christiansen has announced she will retire at the end of the season, and the midfielder could be brought into the starting lineup for the final game of her career.

Saturday's contest will also be Rikke Sevecke's final game in an Everton shirt, with the 26-year-old set to leave the club when her contract expires at the end of the season.

Manchester City Women possible starting lineup:
Keating; Morgan, Houghton, Greenwood, Ouahabi; Hasegawa, Angeldal; Kelly, Coombs, Hemp; Shaw

Everton Ladies possible starting lineup:
Ramsey; Bjorn, K. Holmgaard, Sevecke; Veje, Christiansen, Wheeler, Hope; Bennison; Sorensen, Snoeijs

We say: Manchester City Women 3-0 Everton Ladies

Champions League qualification may be out of Man City's reach, but they will still be keen to round off the season with a positive result, and after winning their last five home league matches, we think they will record another home victory on Saturday.
