United 'to offer Lindelof £150k-a-week deal'

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer Victor Lindelof a new £150,000-a-week contract after being encouraged by the centre-back's progression.

The Sweden international struggled during his first season with United following a 2017 switch from Benfica.

Lindelof showed signs of encouragement during the 2018-19 campaign, though, with the defender making 40 appearances in all competitions for the 20-time English champions.

The 25-year-old has also played every minute of the team's 2019-20 Premier League season to date, forming a partnership with big-money summer arrival Harry Maguire at the back.

According to The Sun, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen for the Red Devils to hand Lindelof a new four-year contract which would see the Swede double his wages to £150,000 a week.

Former United captain Rio Ferdinand criticised Lindelof's performance in the team's 1-1 draw with Southampton before the international break.

Solskjaer's side will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host high-flying Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
