Tottenham Hotspur 'set to beat Manchester United to Miralem Pjanic signing'

Tottenham 'to beat Man United to Miralem Pjanic'

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ahead of Manchester United in the race for Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic's signature this summer, despite ongoing interest from the Red Devils.

In what would be the first piece of transfer business since the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as manager, Spurs are reportedly looking to start an overhaul with the capture of the Bosnian midfielder.

The 31-year-old has failed to make himself a consistent starter in Catalonia, featuring in 19 of Barcelona's La Liga games in the 2020-21 campaign, and the Spanish giants are willing to let him depart this summer according to The Express.

While Manchester United have been linked to the midfielder, Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici is reportedly keen to link back up with Pjanic, who played for Juventus for four years during Paratici's time in Turin.

In that time, the Bosnian made 178 appearances for the Italian giants, netting 22 goals and registering 41 assists while adding four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia trophies to his cabinet.

Having waited until the arrival of a permanent manager, Paratici is now reportedly set to start a busy summer transfer window alongside Nuno by bringing the former Juventus star to North London.
