Paul Scholes wants Antoine Griezmann at Manchester United

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes picks Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann as the player that he wants to see lead Jose Mourinho's attack.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has called on Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho to bring Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford.

Griezmann, 25, has been a revelation since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2014 - netting 66 goals in 122 appearances for the capital outfit, including 32 in all competitions last season.

The France international also topped the scoring charts at Euro 2016, and Scholes has identified Griezmann as the player to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Man United first XI.

"I think Griezmann would be up there," Scholes told BT Sport. "He looks a top centre-forward at Atletico and I think we have to be in the market for someone like that.

"When you're talking about a 36-year-old, as special as he's (Zlatan) been throughout his career, as special as he is now, I don't think he should be the main striker."

Griezmann revealed earlier this month that he wants to play alongside Man United midfielder Paul Pogba at club level at some point in the future.
