Rooney: 'I have no input on transfers'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has dismissed suggestions that he has an input on the transfer dealings at the club.

The England international committed his long-term future to United last month after agreeing a four-year contract extension, which will see him through until 2019.

Reports have claimed that the forward's new deal has seen him being given access to the club's transfers plans, but Rooney is adamant that he has never asked for that role.

"I want to be clear about this: I have never asked the club for any input about transfers," Rooney told The Mirror.

"To suggest otherwise is crazy. Who we buy and sell is nothing to do with me.

"It never has been and it never will. David Moyes is the manager and decisions like that are for him to make."

Rooneey is likely to start in this afternoon's Premier League clash with rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.
