Report: United still in talks with Milenkovic

Manchester United reportedly remain locked in discussions with Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, despite the recent sacking of Jose Mourinho.

The centre-back has been watched up close by United scouts on a few occasions this season, while Mourinho was also in attendance for Serbia's meeting with Montenegro in October.

Mourinho bemoaned the club's decision to veto a move for a new central defender but, according to La Repubblica, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is still in talks with Milenkovic's representatives.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not expected to have any major say in who the Red Devils sign during the January transfer window, with the decision instead left to his own bosses.

A top-class centre-back of Milenkovic's calibre is said to remain a top priority, with United keeping just two clean sheets all season in the Premier League - the second-worst record in the division.

Milenkovic has made 16 appearances for Fiorentina this season and was a regular for Serbia at the 2018 World Cup.
