Report: Morgan Schneiderlin nears £24m switch to Everton

Everton have reportedly already opened talks with Manchester United over a £24m January move for Morgan Schneiderlin, while Memphis Depay could join on loan.

Everton are well positioned to bring Morgan Schneiderlin on board from Manchester United in January and are eager to push through a deal, according to a report.

The 27-year-old is one of a number of players linked with the Old Trafford exit after manager Jose Mourinho admitted that he will not stand in the way if a bid is made.

Ronald Koeman hinted last week that both Schneiderlin and fellow out-of-favour United midfielder Memphis Depay were on his transfer radar, with Yannick Bolasie's season-long injury making a big-money capture even more important to appease supporters.

It is claimed by the Daily Mail that the Merseyside outfit have already opened talks with United over a £24m move for Schneiderlin, who has yet to be handed a league start under Mourinho and has featured just seven times overall in all competitions.

Koeman worked with the Frenchman during his time at Southampton, which he is hoping will persuade the midfielder to choose Goodison Park as his next destination, while Depay is a potential loan option should no other side make a formal approach.
