Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is allegedly determined to force a move to Barcelona during this summer's transfer window.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is reportedly determined to force a move to Barcelona this summer.

The forward joined Aston Villa on loan in January, and he has scored four times and registered six assists in 17 appearances for Unai Emery's side, but he has been absent of late due to a hamstring problem.

Villa have the chance to sign Rashford for £40m during this summer's transfer window, but it is understood that the club are yet to make up their mind over a permanent move for the England international.

Emery's side also allegedly do not have first refusal on Rashford, meaning that Man United could sell him elsewhere this summer.

Rashford was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in January, but the Catalan outfit could not make the deal work from a financial point of view, which opened the door for Villa to secure his services.

Rashford 'looking to force' Barcelona switch

The forward is believed to have enjoyed his time at Villa immensely, but Barcelona are thought to be his dream destination.

According to Sport, Rashford's entourage have approached Barcelona over the potential of a loan move, but it remains to be seen whether Man United are willing to continue paying a portion of his wages.

The Red Devils academy product would allegedly be willing to accept a pay cut in order to join Barcelona, such is his desire to turn out for the La Liga and Copa del Rey champions.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, while it is believed that other offers from the Premier League could also be presented, but Rashford has allegedly made it clear that he only wants to join Hansi Flick's team.

Rashford's wages at Man United are in the region of £325,000 a week, which would be problematic for Barcelona, even considering their status.

Would Man United accept another loan deal?

Any sale of Rashford this summer would count as pure profit under the Premier League's rules surrounding profit and sustainability due to his status as a home-grown player.

Man United are relying on his exit to boost their squad during the upcoming market, and it is difficult to imagine them agreeing to let Rashford leave again on loan, as it would mean paying part of his wages for another season.

There is the possibility of a mandatory purchase being included in the move for the summer of 2026, though, and Man United could potentially be willing to accept a deal of that type.
