Napoli pull out of Erling Haaland race as they 'cannot compete with Man Utd'

Napoli pull out of Haaland race

Napoli have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Red Bull Salzburg wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland as they are unable to compete with Manchester United.

The teenage striker has hit 21 goals and recorded six assists in just 14 games across all competitions so far this season - netting six in three Champions League outings.

As a result, he has attracted attention from Europe's elite, including Manchester United - interest which has all but ended Napoli's hopes of landing the 19-year-old, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Serie A side now expect the Red Devils to win the race for the young forward, with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having handed him his debut at Molde before the two parted ways.

Additionally, United have room for a new striker after allowing Romelu Lukaku to join Inter Milan in the summer without buying a replacement.
