Manchester United contact Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly contacted Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford in 2022.

The 24-year-old has again been an important player for his German club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring twice and contributing one assist in 10 appearances in all competitions.

Zakaria's current deal is due to expire next June, though, and it appears likely that the Switzerland international will be seeking pastures new at the end of his contract.

According to Blick, Man United have contacted the midfielder to express their interest, with the Red Devils prepared to hand him a €12m (£10m) signing-on bonus next year.

However, a number of other clubs, including Juventus, Manchester City and Arsenal, are also believed to be keen to sign the Swiss upon the expiration of his Monchengladbach deal.

Zakaria has scored 11 times and registered eight assists in 138 appearances for his current club since making the move from Young Boys in July 2017.
