Jadon Sancho: Man United could sell outcast to former manager as transfer statement is made

Man Utd’s Sancho problem could be solved by ex-manager as transfer statement made

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Besiktas are interested in signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer, according to the Turkish club’s president Serdal Adali.

Sancho is considered surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and has not played for the Red Devils since featuring as a late substitute in the 2024 Community Shield over 12 months ago.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Chelsea where he won the Conference League and contributed with five goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

However, Sancho returned to Man United earlier this summer after Chelsea decided to pay a £5m penalty fee to get out of their £25m obligation to buy him.

The England international, who was last capped by his country in October 2021, has entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and is hoping to finalise a move away from Ruben Amorim’s side before the transfer window closes in a few weeks’ time.

Sancho wanted by Besiktas, president confirms

Recent reports have claimed that Sancho would be willing to cut his Man United salary in half in order to secure a return to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, who have explored the possibility of a summer reunion.

Sancho has also emerged as a potential target for Serie A giants Inter Milan, who will allegedly consider making an approach for the winger if they fail to wrap up a deal for Atalanta BC’s Ademola Lookman.

However, Sancho may contemplate reigniting his career in Turkey with his former Man United boss Solskjaer, as the president of Besiktas has insisted that his club want to sign the winger this summer.

Asked about the possibility of bringing Sancho to Besiktas, president Adali told Turkish news outlet NTVSpor: “I want it as much as the club wants it. I've said this about other transfers as well.

Sancho could reunite with Solskjaer at Besiktas

“A player's decision to come to Turkey is crucial. We don't have the luxury of buying every player we want for a large sum. We have a budget, too.

“I want it more than our fans. We'll do everything we can to bring him here. It's important that the player wants to come to Turkey and Besiktas. We don't want to force anyone to come because of money."

Sancho was signed by Solskjaer at Man United in July 2021 for a reported £73m, but the latter was sacked as head coach just four months later.

It remains to be seen whether Sancho would be interested in joining Besiktas, who have already signed English striker Tammy Abraham this summer, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still on the books at the Istanbul-based giants.

English Premier League teams have until September 1 to complete their transfer business, but clubs in Turkey will not see their transfer window close until September 13, giving Besiktas additional time to negotiate a deal with Man United to sign Sancho.
