Manchester United lining up 'record-breaking Gareth Bale bid'

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is a £90m target for Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, a report claims.

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a £90m move for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale in January.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Spanish giants for a record-breaking transfer fee from Tottenham Hotspur last year, is said to be the Red Devils' top target.

Reports in Spain suggest that United are planning to start talks with Los Blancos in the coming weeks, and are confident of landing Bale in the New Year.

It is also claimed that United manager Louis van Gaal will be given the funds needed to secure the Welshman's signature, which will surpass the £85m fee paid by Madrid last year.

Bale has scored five goals in 11 games for Madrid so far this season.
