Manchester United could move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans before the end of the month, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly considering moving for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans before the end of the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old's future remains the subject of much speculation, as his contract with the Foxes is due to expire at the end of June.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Belgium international, but Man United were credited with an interest over the summer, and the Red Devils could now allegedly be preparing an offer for him.

According to journalist Thomas Alencar, in information provided by Sacha Tavolieri, Donny van de Beek's season-ending knee injury has led to Erik ten Hag's side considering a move for Tielemans.

"United is interested in Tielemans. No proposal yet," wrote Alencar on his official Twitter account.

"The interest comes from the team of scouts and the sporting director of the club. The Belgian is one of the possibilities in January after Van de Beek's injury."

Van de Beek has undergone an operation on the serious knee injury that he picked up against Bournemouth earlier this month, and the Dutchman will miss the remainder of the campaign.

There has also been speculation surrounding Scott McTominay's future, with Newcastle United believed to be interested in signing the Scotland international before the end of the month.

Man United could therefore be in the market for a new central midfielder in January despite not initially looking at improving in that area during the winter market.

Tielemans has again been a key player for Leicester this season, making 24 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and one assist in the process.

Meanwhile, the Belgian has now made 182 appearances for the Foxes in total since his arrival from Monaco in 2019, initially on loan, scoring 28 goals and providing 25 assists.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers recently said that he was still hopeful over a potential new deal for the midfielder at the King Power Stadium.

"It has gone on for a while, but it's all based around the player, ultimately. His commitment is no less now to what it was when I first came in - if not even more. He's loved his time here and is still loving his time here," Rodgers told reporters earlier this month.

"I respect that he's in his last year, of course I want to tie him down. He's been a brilliant player for this club and is still at a great age. It's something that has to be right for all parties.

"Until I'm told he's not here, we work very well together. He's a coach's dream, with his professionalism and view of the game.

"Nothing changes for me in that aspect, we just continue to hopefully find a resolution to it and have him sign here. I think it's one where we want to do everything we can to convince him to stay."

Man United have made two loan signings during the January market, bringing in Jack Butland from Crystal Palace and Wout Weghorst from Burnley.
