Manchester United to release Cameron Borthwick-Jackson?

Manchester United reportedly intend to release Cameron Borthwick-Jackson when his contract expires in the summer.

Manchester United reportedly have no intention of extending the contract of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

After being handed 14 first-team appearances by Louis van Gaal, the academy graduate appeared destined to become a regular in United's senior squad.

However, since being given the chance to earn experience on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers, the left-back has struggled to replicate his earlier form.

During a time when the 23-year-old has not made another outing for United, just 45 league appearances have been made at Wolves, Leeds United, Scunthorpe United, Tranmere Rovers and Oldham Athletic.

According to the Manchester Evening News, this will lead to United releasing the defender at the end of his contract in the summer.

Although the Premier League giants have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months, the player is surplus to requirements.
