Man United transfer news: Jadon Sancho’s ‘reduced asking price’ revealed as Borussia Dortmund ‘explore’ reunion

Man United ‘reduce asking price’ for Sancho as Dortmund ‘explore’ reunion

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in re-signing Jadon Sancho this summer, with Manchester United having reduced their asking price for the winger.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Chelsea, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists in 41 appearances as well as winning the Conference League.

However, Sancho has returned to Old Trafford after Chelsea decided to pay a £5m penalty fee to get out of their £25m obligation to buy him.

Sancho has entered the final year of his contract with the Red Devils and is allegedly one of five players who has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer.

The England international, who was last capped by his country in October 2021, has failed to reach the heights expected at Man United since his £73m transfer from Dortmund in the summer of 2021.

Dortmund, Juventus keen to sign Sancho

It has previously been reported that Dortmund rejected the chance to re-sign Sancho earlier this summer, but their stance now appears to have changed.

According to Sky Sports News, BVB are one of a number of clubs, along with Italian giants Juventus, who are keen to sign the winger this summer.

Sky in Germany claims that Dortmund have explored the conditions of a deal for Sancho and internal discussions are taking place about bringing him back to the club.

Sancho briefly returned to Westfalenstadion on loan from Man United in the second half of the 2023-24 season and he impressed as Dortmund reached the Champions League final.

Across his two spells with Dortmund, including his first between 2017 and 2021, Sancho has contributed with 53 goals and 67 assists in 158 appearances across all competitions for the German club.

Sancho available for between £15m and £17m

It remains to be seen as to whether Sancho would be open to a return to Dortmund, with Juventus understood to have already held talks with Man United and the player's representatives about a summer transfer.

Serie A champions Napoli have also been keeping tabs on Sancho and are known to be in the market for a new winger after missing out on Nottingham Forest-bound Dan Ndoye.

Man United have found if difficult to offload Sancho so far this summer, with his £275,000-a-week wages thought to have been a major stumbling block with interested suitors.

The Red Devils are still hopeful of selling Sancho and the Daily Mail claims that they would accept a reduced price for the winger of between £15m and £17m.

In comparison, Man United are said to value fellow outcasts Alejandro Garnacho and Antony and £40m and £30m respectively.
