Manchester United and Chelsea both make offers for Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo, according to a report.

Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly both made offers for Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for the Catalan giants during the 2021-22 campaign, making 26 appearances in all competitions, contributing three assists in the process.

Araujo has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Camp Nou, though, and Barcelona are allegedly finding it difficult to agree fresh terms with the Uruguay international.

The centre-back's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with Man United and Chelsea both strongly linked with his services.

According to Marca, the Premier League pair have both made offers for Araujo, with the clubs seemingly preparing to go head-to-head for his signature ahead of next season.

A recent report claimed that Man United had offered the defender a salary of £8.4m a year to make the move to Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

Araujo is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a calf problem during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Espanyol in the Barcelona derby, which will rule him out of Thursday's Europa League clash with Napoli.
