Liverpool 'keen on summer deal for Darwin Nunez'

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Benfica forward Darwin Nunez during this summer's transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for his Portuguese club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 23 times and contributing two assists in 29 appearances in all competitions.

West Ham United are believed to have failed with a January move for the forward, while Manchester United are said to be admirers of the Uruguay international.

According to Football Insider, there is also serious interest from Liverpool, with the Reds setting their sights on his signature ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

The report claims that Nunez is open to moving to Anfield this summer, although Jurgen Klopp's side would have to be prepared to pay in the region of £55m for his signature.

The South American, who still has more than three years left to run on his current deal, has scored 37 goals and registered 14 assists in 73 appearances for Benfica since making the move from Almeria in September 2020.
