Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata reportedly rejects an £18m-a-year deal from a Saudi Arabian club as he believes the Red Devils can win silverware this season.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has reportedly turned down a staggering £18m-a-year offer from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club to remain at Old Trafford.

The former Chelsea man has found it hard to break into the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has been restricted to appearances in the EFL Cup in the early stages of the 2020-21 campaign.

Mata's deal with the Red Devils expires next summer, although United do have the option to trigger a further year, but the 32-year-old is supposedly intent on remaining in Manchester despite a lack of playing time.

AS reports that an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia offered Mata £18m per year to leave Old Trafford - up from their initial offer of £11.5m - but Mata has rejected that proposal.

The report suggests that Mata wants to stay on at United as he is confident about their chances of winning silverware this season, but the midfielder has struggled for starts over the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Daniel James in recent times.

The Spaniard has netted 50 goals in 257 appearances for the Red Devils, who mark their return to Premier League action with a trip to Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
