Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is reportedly still open to signing a new contract with Antonio Conte's side after entering the final 18 months of his current deal.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is reportedly still open to signing a new contract with Antonio Conte's side.

The England captain is due to become a free agent in the summer of 2024, and his future is being called into question once again amid Spurs' struggles in the Premier League.

Kane unsuccessfully tried to force an exit from Tottenham in 2021, with Manchester City and Manchester United pushing for a deal, but Daniel Levy refused to sanction a transfer for less than £150m.

As a result, Kane stayed put to help the Lilywhites return to the Champions League under Conte, leading to optimism over an extension for the 29-year-old.

However, Spurs currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League table after losing three of their first four top-flight matches of 2023, and the gap to fourth-placed Manchester United stands at six points.

With Kane now in the final 18 months of his contract and Tottenham enduring a difficult spell of form, Man United are supposedly ready to reignite their interest in the striker as they search for a permanent replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kane is also alleged to be interested in a move to Old Trafford, but according to The Athletic, the England skipper would also be open to extending his stay with Tottenham in the right circumstances.

The report states that Kane and Tottenham have not spoken about a new deal since his transfer saga in the summer of 2021, with the World Cup and January transfer business taking priority.

Talks are supposedly planned after the winter market shuts, and Kane - who is yet to win a major club trophy - is said to be determined to help Tottenham end their 15-year run without silverware.

Kane's desire to win a trophy for Spurs is taking precedence over a potential departure, and the 29-year-old's agents are not believed to have held concrete talks over an exit from Hotspur Way.

Tottenham are still fighting for success in the FA Cup and Champions League, facing Preston North End in the fourth round of the former competition this weekend before tackling AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League next month.

As well as their on-field endeavours, Tottenham's recruitment in the transfer market is expected to be another key factor in Kane's decision, and the Lilywhites could be pressured into a sale this summer if he ultimately decides against signing an extension.

Kane has amassed a staggering 265 goals and 62 assists in 414 games for Tottenham in all competitions, including 17 strikes and three assists from 28 games in the 2022-23 campaign.

The Englishman is only one goal away from equalling Jimmy Greaves's all-time record of 266 for Tottenham, which he could match or beat in Monday's Premier League London derby with Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Spurs manager Conte sees his contract expire at the end of the season, meanwhile, and it has recently been claimed that the Italian will leave the club when his deal runs out in the summer.
