Everton 'refused to meet United's Rojo valuation'

Everton reportedly failed with a late swoop for Marcos Rojo as they were not prepared to meet Manchester United's valuation of the Argentina international.

The Toffees were believed to be in talks with the 20-time English champions over a move for the versatile defender before the transfer window closed for business.

According to Sky Sports News, the two teams were in discussions over a potential deal, but Everton failed to match the priced needed to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to sanction a sale.

Aston Villa were also linked with a deadline-day swoop for the 29-year-old, who has entered the final two years of his contract at Old Trafford.

Everton, however, are said to be confident of securing a late move for Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi after submitting a deal sheet ahead of the 5pm deadline.
