Angel di Maria 'on verge of completing Manchester United transfer'

Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of signing Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria for a British record fee of £56m.

The 26-year-old, who asked to leave Madrid earlier this week, has been extensively linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Sky Sports News claims that a deal to take Di Maria to Old Trafford is now close to being finalised, with the final touches expected to be put in place at the beginning of next week.

Talks are said to be at such an advanced stage that Di Maria has already been handed the number seven shirt with the Red Devils.

United kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 home defeat against Swansea City last weekend, and return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Sunderland.
