Daniele De Rossi: 'I could have left Roma'

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi concedes that he rejected "plenty of other options" to remain with the Italian club last year.

Daniele De Rossi has revealed that he had "plenty of other options" before he committed his future to Roma a year ago.

The midfielder was believed to have been a target of a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Manchester City.

However, the 31-year-old has claimed that his "love" for the club was a major factor behind his decision to remain at the Stadio Olimpico.

"When I decided to sign for Roma a year ago, I had plenty of other options, but I love this club and I know that I can win also with this club - my club," he told reporters.

De Rossi made his Roma debut back in 2001 and he has gone on to make almost 450 appearances for the three-time champions of Italy.
