Manchester United are allegedly on the verge of signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers after fresh discussions with the 25-year-old.

Matheus Cunha has reportedly "said yes" to a summer move to Manchester United, with the Red Devils now on the verge of securing a deal for the Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the Brazil international in recent months, with a number of major clubs believed to be interested in his services, but Man United have recently taken the lead in the battle for his signature.

Cunha has a £62.5m release clause in his Wolves contract, and it is understood that Man United have agreed to pay that fee in instalments, allowing them to open talks with the 25-year-old.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, "the deal is almost done", with only the final details needing to be agreed upon, as the Brazilian has told Man United that he wants to make the move to Old Trafford.

It is understood that the transfer will go through regardless of whether Man United win Wednesday night's Europa League final, which would secure qualification for the league stage of the 2025-26 Champions League.

Man United 'on verge' of securing Cunha deal

Cunha has been in excellent form for Wolves during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 17 goals and registering six assists in 35 appearances in all competitions, including 15 goals and six assists in 32 Premier League matches.

In total, the forward has 33 goals and 15 assists in 91 matches for Wolves, while he scored seven goals and registered eight assists in 64 games for Atletico Madrid ahead of his switch to Molineux.

Cunha is viewed by Man United head coach Ruben Amorim as the perfect player to operate as one of the number 10s in his 3-4-3 formation, while he is also capable of featuring through the middle.

When could Cunha make Man United debut?

Man United will officially kick off their preparations for the 2025-26 campaign with a friendly against Leeds United in Stockholm on July 19.

That contest could make Cunha's debut, as the Brazilian is set to be involved in the early stages of pre-season training with the Red Devils.

Man United will then head to the United States for their pre-season tour, which will see them play in the Premier League Summer Series against West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton.

The Red Devils will then take on Fiorentina at Old Trafford on August 9, which could mark Cunha's first Old Trafford appearance for the club, before the 2025-26 Premier League season kicks off on the weekend of August 16.
