Manchester United could reportedly sign Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane next summer.
Kane was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford when it became clear that he would be leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, but the England captain ultimately made the move to Bayern.
The 32-year-old has scored 85 goals and registered 26 assists in 96 appearances for Bayern in all competitions, and he finally landed the first major trophy of his professional career last season, lifting the Bundesliga title.
Kane has a contract at Allianz Arena until 2027 and is preparing for another season in Germany, but his future beyond next summer is unclear, with a return to the Premier League thought to be a serious possibility.
According to The Telegraph, the experienced striker will look to round off his time in Germany in 2026, and Man United are regarded as the firm favourites to sign him, should he return to the Premier League.
Man United could sign Kane 'next summer'
The report claims that Kane has a release clause which decreases each year, which will make him more affordable during next summer's transfer window, especially as his contract will also have just 12 months left to run.
Man United are long-term admirers of the England captain, and although a move would go against their new transfer policy, it is understood that the Red Devils are still keen to sign him.
Kane is the second-highest goalscorer in the history of the Premier League with 213, with only Alan Shearer (260) registering on more occasions in the competition.
In theory, two seasons in England's top flight could bring Kane close to that total, and he allegedly still has ambitions of breaking Shearer's overall record.
Should Man United move for an ageing Kane?
Kane has only just turned 32, so he would be 33 during the 2026-27 campaign.
The striker has never relied on pace, instead boasting incredible game intelligence, link-up play and finishing qualities, and there is no reason why that could not continue at Old Trafford in the latter stages of his career.
Man United are expected to sign a new forward this summer, with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko top of their list, but Rasmus Hojlund is being heavily linked with a departure, and there is room in the final third for two forward additions.
Kane is one of the greatest forwards of the modern era, and if Man United are given the chance to sign him during next summer's transfer window, then the 20-time English champions should not think twice.
