Chong in contract talks with Man Utd

Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong has confirmed that talks are underway with the club regarding a new contract.

The 19-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Feyenoord in 2016 and has impressed United's hierarchy with his progress since winning the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award last year.

Chong has been in and around the United senior squad for over a year, coming off the bench during the club's famous 3-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in March.

When asked whether United had spoken to him about a fresh deal to reflect his progress, Chong told Voetbal Primeur: "Of course we are talking, but it's still too early to say anything about it.

"The season is still long and we will see what happens. There are a lot of competitions coming up and I will focus on that."

Fellow youngster Mason Greenwood, who was excellent over pre-season, is also reportedly in line for a fresh contract at United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken effusively of the attacking pair this summer, insisting that they would both get proper chances to impress in the first-team over the 2019-20 campaign.
